Student-centered teaching and co-operative learning, interactive instruction, bilingualism
I have been living and teaching here in Japan for over 15 years, and currently I am teaching English as part of our university's multilingual medical support course (多言語医療支援コース)The role of a teacher has changed greatly. In the past, passive transmission-based pedagogy, through which students memorise facts, has been replaced with more interactive instruction. I hope to encourage our students at this university to take an active role in their development, and to be inquistive about the subjects they study.
University is a very important time. It is the transition into adulthood, and to becoming a contributing member of society. It is also a time for new friends, new experiences and new knowledge. I hope you enjoy your time spent here.
